Year 7 Students Take Maths Outdoors with Mini Golf at Margate

25 Jun 25

Our Year 7 mathematicians swapped the classroom for the coast as they embarked on a fun-filled educational trip to Margate’s Flamingo Arcade, home to the Lost Island Adventure Golf. This hands-on outing was part of their statistics mini-project, giving students the opportunity to collect real-world data while enjoying a round of mini golf.

On what turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year, the students not only rose to the challenge of applying maths in a new setting but also enjoyed a well-earned treat. A big thank you goes to James and his fantastic team at Lost Island Adventure Golf, who ensured the day ran smoothly and impressively served over 160 ice creams to cool everyone down.

Back in the classroom, the focus now shifts to analysing the data collected during the trip. Students will use their scores to create graphs and calculate key statistical measures such as mean, median, mode, and range. This will help them draw comparisons between different groups and better understand how data behaves in the real world.

It was a fantastic day out combining learning and laughter — and we think it’s fair to say, our students really putt their minds to it!
