Welcome

If you are passionate about drama and the arts, then Chatham and Clarendon is the place to be.

Drama is an integral part of life at Chatham and Clarendon Grammar School. We have invested heavily in our staff and facilities and we are proud of what we have to offer our students across the school. Our drama provision rivals that of some of the schools in the private sector and we a really keen to provide opportunities for students from all backgrounds. From the minute they step through the gates in Year 7 there are multiple opportunities to get involved with Drama either on stage or behind the scenes. The same is true for students joining us in the Sixth Form. If you have a passion and talent for drama then we want to celebrate that with you.

Although there is no requirement for Drama to be taught as a stand alone subject in the Secondary School curriculum we take drama incredibly seriously and we provide opportunities for students to get involved throughout their life at the school. This may be as part of the House Drama competitions or in one of our many public performances. And not just performers. We make sure there is something for everyone.

Gone are the days of ‘being trees and Shakespeare’ (though we do take part in the Shakespeare for Schools Festival) and many of our students benefit from the soft skills which the subject provides: Teamwork, Creative Thinking, Problem Solving, Improvisation, Public Speaking, Analytical Skills, Social Skills, Cultural and Artistic Awareness, Philosophy, Empathy, Politics, Self-Confidence, Memory and Recall, Time Management, Marketing, Design, Determination and Camaraderie… the list goes on.

So please take a moment to look through our Drama pages and life the curtain on Drama at Chatham and Clarendon – we’re sure it will leave you wanting more.
