Shakespeare for Schools

Shakespeare for Schools Festival 2023

We have had the pleasure of working alongside Shakespeare Schools Festival Coram for a number of years and, in 2021, we were delighted to receive our Silver Award. This recognised our commitment to providing pupils with inspiring opportunities, building creative and transferable skills for the future, fostering personal development and encouraging community engagement.

SSF provides schools with an exciting and unforgettable performance opportunity and, with their support, CCGS have performed at both the Theatre Royal in Margate and The Gulbenkian Theatre in Canterbury.

This year the Drama department have selected "The Merchant of Venice" for our multi-talented students to tackle. Auditions took place in Term 4 and the cast was announced at the beginning of Term 5. We are very excited to be supported by seasoned actors/directors from SSF, and, as such, our Shakespeare cast can look forward to a professional workshop in October, which will then culminate in a production of the play in November (most likely at The Gulbenkian Theatre in Canterbury - precise details are yet to be confirmed).

Shakespeare for Schools Festival 2015

Shakespeare for schools works with Primary, Secondary and Special schools all over the UK. The company pride themselves on being fun, fair and professional, and giving schools an exciting and unforgettable performance opportunity. The Drama department believes that this is a fantastic opportunity for our multi-talented students and have selected ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ one of Shakespeare’s comedy’s as our first foray into this festival of Shakespeare.

We have begun the process of auditioning for parts as well as technicians and back stage crew and will soon announce our cast! We are very excited to be supported by seasoned actors/directors from SSF, and the cast of the production can look forward to a cast workshop with them on the 8th October at the Theatre Royal.  This will then culminate in a 30 minute production of the play on the 12th November at the Theatre Royal in Margate.

Tickets will be on sale from the first of September, and will be available from the school. The school website will be updated with further developments.
