Maths in Action 2025
Our year 12 mathematicians had a great day in London to take part in Maths in Action. We were treated to five engaging maths lectures on a range of exciting topics, from maths in machine learning, fractals, modelling global warming to hypothesis testing in medical trials.
"There is no way to spend the day than to do maths, maths and maths. It was even worth getting up extra early for this" Krisz
"My favourite talk was the thought-provoking lecture about fractals and their dimensions." Lakshya
"We loved the magic of maths games talk by Matt Pritchard and how this was made so interactive" Sara and Nkem
"The statistics lecture by Jen Rogers really helped me understand the principles of statistical distributions and how these are used to make decisions in the world of medicine" Ashwin
"The real-life applications of maths in modelling the loss of ice in polar regions was fascinating and it opened up our eyes to the different careers you can have as a mathematician." Sylvia and Silvia
