Schools Challenge

Since September, a team of avid quizzers have been meeting on Fridays at lunchtime to battle it out in preparation for the Schools Challenge competition 2023. This is a general knowledge national competition that has been taking place since 1978 in UK secondary schools. Although it was unsure if the competition was going to run this year, we had news in January that it was going ahead. So, on Thursday 2nd March, a selected team of 4 pupils took on their peers from the King Edward VI School (KES) of Stratford, in the remote first round of the competition.
CCGS made a great start and took the lead, being fast on the buzzers for the starter questions. Their knowledge on a wide variety of topics amazed me: from the classics of literature to capital cities, historical quotes, art movements and classic composers.  Unfortunately, KES banked a couple of bonuses having answered all their follow up questions correctly, which made it hard for the CCGS team to recover.
Final score CCGS 270 - 320 KES.  I want to commend the team on being great ambassadors for the school. They should be proud of their performance. Well done Joseph, Samuel, Christian and Audrey!
