2017-2018 3D Print Hub Primary School Award Winners

19th July 2018

At our recent CCGS Hub Outreach events we ran two competitions with Primary students from around Thanet, the winners were judged on creativity, imagination, and quality. Staff then turned the winning drawings into 3D printed objects on our Ultimakers at the CCGS print Hub.

Entries were gathered from our annual events:

  • The CCGS Technology in Art 3D Hub Workshop
  • The Steam Inreach week screen printing workshop
  • The Thanet steam festival Predator and Prey 3D hub workshop

The first competition for students; involved them designing a ship with a destination in mind. We received over a 1000 entries with a large number of great drawings. Each entry chosen was picked with one winner per school.

Our second competition for students: design a new predator or prey and specify how it is adapted to its chosen environment. Entries were assessed on survivability, and creativity. Each school’s winning entries, one per category, were modelled in blender and 3D printed at our hub.

20 Winners were selected from 20 schools, each winner will receive a certificate and a 3D print of their design.
