CCGS 3D HUB resources for new Design Technology GCSE

5th October 2017

The Chatham and Clarendon Grammar School 3D HUB, has collaborated with CREATE Education who have put together a guide to how 3D printing technology can be utilised to help schools and students nationwide to meet the aims, objectives and subject content for the new GCSE Design Technology Curriculum and Exam Board Specifications being delivered from September 2017.

“3D printing can provide a vehicle for covering many elements of the new GCSE curriculum, so in this guide we have addressed each relevant part of the curriculum to provide ideas, links and resources to help teachers to cover these areas from a 3D printing perspective.”

The guide includes:

  • Project, lesson and activity ideas
  • Links to FREE downloadable resources
  • Links to real industrial case studies and examples
  • Curriculum references/links

Our 3D HUB has contributed four projects with teaching resources that have been included in the guide which is available to download for free on the Create education website. 6th form students worked with Joe Fox our placement undergraduate, who runs the school-based hub, to enter the resources. The “Game Over” Project where students design a hand held controller though computer aided design and 3D printing was one of the top five projects for the guide. Please see the below links to the create education resources we developed.
