Facilities

Don’t be deceived by the obviously vintage architecture of much of the Federation campus – behind the historic façade students are able to access well-equipped specialist teaching accommodation, including a total of 14 Science laboratories, 5 technology  workshops, 6 ICT suites, and the full range of specialist rooms for the Arts. The Chatham site includes excellent facilities for Sport & PE with pitches and a modern astro-turf. In addition to two school libraries, students are also welcome to use the ultra-modern  refurbished Ramsgate Library, right next door to Clarendon House. The BSF programme to completely rebuild Chatham &  Clarendon may have been a casualty of recent economic and political change, but substantial investment in modernising the urban campus continues.

The most recent refurbishment was Phase 1 of the conversion of the Cavendish Building to a Sixth Form Centre. The new CCVI Common Room has state-of-the-art informal study facilities including both desktops, full wi-fi access and secure portable device recharging lockers – and internet café, to match the standard of any university Student Union. Phase 2 (in 2011-2012) will be to redevelop the rest of the building for more Sixth Form lessons as the new base for the Social Studies Faculty.

In addition both the Chatham and Clarendon sites have been refurbished and adapted to support co-ed use by both boys and girls across the Urban Campus
