Transport in the Sixth Form

There are two options available to students in the Sixth Form:

  1. Kent 16+ Bus Pass –this ticket gives all day and all year travel on most public buses in Kent

From 5th June, applications (BUT NOT PAYMENTS) for 2017 / 18 Kent 16+ Travel Passes can be made on-line. Search on the KCC website for

Kent 16+ Bus Pass Application

Students can also apply directly in the post sending an application form (downloadable from site above) and passport photograph to; Kent 16+ Travel Card, Kent County Council, Public Transport, PO Box 441, Aylesford, Kent ME6 9HJ.

Do NOT send any payment to KCC

Full payment for the year would be required when the card is collected from school at the beginning of September term. The cost for the year from Term 1 is £400 and cheques should be made payable to CCGS.

Please see overleaf for information about financial help with this cost.

The cost for part-year bus pass can be found on the KCC website.

  1. Stagecoach Academic Megarider – this yearly ticket gives unlimited use in Thanet (and surrounding villages) only and last year cost £430. However it can be purchased as 3 separate tickets throughout the year for

                                    Terms 1 &2, Terms 3 &4 and Terms 5&6

An application form can be downloaded from Stagecoach Southeast website. This can be stamped at school on Results Day when you confirm your place with us. Tickets can then be purchased at any time from the Stagecoach bus station in Canterbury or by post using a credit/debit card. No photo is required for this application. More details about this ticket are on the Stagecoach Southeast website.

(If you are making an application to the Bursary Fund - see overleaf- please DO NOT apply for the Kent 16+ Bus Pass until you are sure of the award being made. This is explained more fully in the information sheet accompanying the Bursary application form)

Unfortunately there is currently no support from KCC to cover the costs of train travel to school.

Please note that if a student is eligible for the 16-19 Bursary then part of, or all, transport costs (including train travel) may be met by this fund.
