About The Federation

The Chatham & Clarendon Grammar School Federation was formed in 2009 to achieve the benefits of close collaboration, and the partner schools are under-going a period of exciting change.

By pooling our resources – human, financial and the learning environment, and working as one rather than separately, we can offer far more to our students. Deemed "outstanding" by Ofsted, The Federation became a new Converter Academy in January 2011, bringing greater control over admissions, site & buildings, curriculum development and much-needed additional income. This also marks the start of a formal process seeking approval to merge the federated academy schools, with a target date of September 2014. The Chatham & Clarendon Grammar School Federation will remain a selective grammar school, and offer a unique combination: a co-ed educational environment with a significant core of single-sex teaching running from Year 7 through to Year 11, topped off with a large mixed Sixth Form. We are embracing progressive curriculum developments – which will give our students an advantage in an increasingly competitive world. Regardless of the demise of the BSF building programme we are investing in improvements to our unique and atmospheric collection of old buildings: “Hogwarts with attitude” as some of our students have been heard to say!
